The fall/winter 2015 runway shows may be over
but our wardrobes are still getting ready for warm weather. Now is the prime
time for spring cleaning, and we’re here to help you declutter and fill your
closet with only things you love. On March 24th, bring us
all of your gently-loved (or never worn) clothes, accessories, shoes, and bags
and trade them in for tickets (up to 15 items) that you can swap for new
goodies. We’ll be in the Junior Common Room at University College
starting at 12 to receive any pieces you want to drop with us. The swap takes
place from 1 to 4 p.m. on that day.
Even if you’ve already gotten a head
start on sifting through your closet and don’t have anything to donate, $5 will
buy you admission to the swap and 3 tickets to exchange for that weird polo
shirt from the 70’s you’ve always wanted, a transparent raincoat à la Blade
Runner, and the denim skirt that’ll match everything else you already own. Or
whatever other styles your heart desires. Admission for those donating items is
$3.
Any goods leftover at the end of the
swap will be donated to Pegasus Community Project. A Toronto-based day
program for adults with developmental disabilities, Pegasus allows them to
explore volunteer and employment interests and continue to grow and become
self-reliant after they leave school. The program runs a thrift store, located
on Kingston Road, which funds many of the project’s ventures and creates
volunteer opportunities for participants in the program.
Note that this event is open to
everyone, U of T students and the public. Friends are welcome to come and join
in the fun.
Chances
are you don’t have the storage space to contain Imelda Marcos’ shoe collection.
Leave room for pieces that inspire you and bring the rest to the swap!
